The charming little cottages clustered along the harbour wall date from a time when this area was the 'new port' of Trefdraeth. From the C17 onwards there was a busy community of sailors and fishers and others who serviced and supplied the sea-going life. The quaint walls, walkways and tiny enclosed gardens are necessities for living in the teeth of the wind and saltspray. This is a conservation area now and nearly all the properties are holiday homes.
