Built for the Co-op in 1935-36 to the designs of W.A. Johnson, "in the International Modern style of Erich Mendelsohn favoured by this architect, with glazed cylindrical corner turrets and long bands of fenestration". Grade II listed. Occupied at the time by department store T.J. Hughes (which has since gone under).
