The blue plaque erected by Northern Counties Housing Association and The Metropolitan Borough of Stockport on Mealhouse Brow Image reads: STOCKPORT DUNGEON AND COURT LEET Before 1824 the town's justice was administered from this building. Prisoners were held in the cells accessed from inside and from Mealhouse Brow.
