Endsleigh House, No.481 Beverley Road, an Italianate villa of grey brick with central tower by Smith & Brodrick, 1876-77, for William Glossop, brewer. In 1901 it became the convent of the Sisters of Mercy (R.C.), established 1899, better known as Endsleigh Convent. In 1905 they established the Endsleigh Teacher Training College, later part of Humberside University, with a chapel and other buildings by Edward Simpson. After 1974, it became Dove House, part of the Humberside Hospice project, then Wyke House, part of Humberside Polytechnic. In 2007 the building was converted into flats, becoming Dawson House. Now also advertised as the Endsleigh Centre, available for prayer days, weddings, funerals, conferences, retreats, bed and breakfast (Endsleigh Mercy Centre) and concerts.
