Most of Durward Street is a building site due to the Crossrail construction work occurring at Whitechapel Station. Unfortunately the building site has blocked access to the only reminder of the site of the murder of the first Jack the Ripper victim, Mary Ann Nicholls, which is a graffitied plaque on the bridge over the London Overground just behind the Trinity Hall (the tall building on the right). My photo from two years ago (http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2867700) would have been one of the last opportunities to get a shot of it! A terrible shame, but the times move on and progress has to happen! Looking north-northeast.
