Durward Street (then called Buck's Row) was the site of the first Jack the Ripper murder, Mary Ann Nicholls. The bridge over the London Overground further down the road behind the camera is just about where the murder occurred. However, it would have been hard to photograph due to the Crossrail work going on at Whitechapel station. Looking south-southwest.
