In the foreground is the bridleway to Lowdales also shown in Image Pond Cottage has its origins in a 17th century longhouse, although it was enlarged and altered in the 19th century; the dormers with their pointed sashes are from this time. It is built in the local coursed rubble under a clay pantile roof
