The old Filwood Broadway cinema has been the focal point of this area since it was built in 1938. Originally a cinema, it also held local boxing bouts and even received a visit from P.J. Proby in the 1960s. However, times change and the cinema turned into a bingo hall from 1981-94; following that it has become a derelict hall and now looks more likely to be demolished.
