This cottage near Makin's Corner on Main Street was once part of the Horseshoe Inn along with the taller properties to the left. The flaggy sandstone slabs forming the wall to the left are probably the best remaining example of this type of walling on Main Street. The stone was almost certainly sourced from Billinge Hill quarry or Victoria quarry which was about one mile north west from here.
