Stone of Morphie

The stone stands 3.4 metres high and measures 0.7 metres x 1 metre at the base. It has no carvings or inscriptions. It had been knocked down in the 1850s but has been re-erected. Tradition relates that it marks the grave of a son of Camus who was killed in battle with Danish invaders, and remains of a burial were found beneath it. Thank goodness the .... er .... artefacts behind it in Image] seem to have disappeared.
