Typical Victorian bank statement of wealth and status - such buildings are invariably faced in ashlar, and boast many columns and carved details. More often than not, the chosen style was Classical or classically-derived. This example also has a turret topped by a slightly pointed dome. By Milnes & France, 1873. Grade II listed. Now a branch of Natwest Bank.
