This is on the side of a building in Trinity Street owned by Gonville and Caius College. John Colton (c1320-1404) was Archbishop of Armagh. The angel above his effigy is holding his archbishop's coat-of-arms. In 1348 he received a degree of Doctor of Canon Law when he became the first ever Master of the new Gonville Hall, now Gonville and Caius College. He took a degree in divinity at the University of Cambridge in 1348 and the following year became the first Master of the new Gonville Hall, Cambridge, now Gonville and Caius College whose founder Edmund Gonville was a neighbour of Colton in Terrington.
