The Regal Cinema at 44 Queen Street was built in 1939 by Messrs R Pert and Sons of Montrose to a design by Alexander Cattanach (1895-1977), and became part of Caledonian Associated Cinemas about 1960. It closed as a cinema in 1968, and was used as a bingo hall for some time before being converted into a furniture shop in 1986.
