An inscribed stone at Haining Park, Selkirk

This stone is set into a low wall at the entrance to Haining Park from The Green. It is in memory of three young boys who drowned in Haining Loch after falling through ice. The stone is inscribed:- IN MEMORY OF WILLIAM HART 10 YRS WILLIAM PARK 11 YRS WILLIAM RIDDELL 11 YRS DROWNED IN HAINING LOCH 3RD JAN 1857 For a view of the entrance to Haining Park from The Green, see Image
