The shelter on the far platform is an original Great Northern Railway construction of late 19th century date and is Listed Grade II. The listing details state that the shelter appears to have been constructed from standard Midland Railway signal box components of their designs of the same era, but if so it is a puzzle how they came to appear on a GNR station. The interior has been refurbished with murals by local schoolchildren http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3923440
