This cottage orné was "built as the Lower Lodge to Old Sneyd Park" in the early C19 http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1206697&searchtype=mapsearch . The crossroads is of Old Sneed Park (ahead) crossing Mariners Drive.
