The college, founded in Manchester in 1786, moved to Oxford in 1889 but did not formally become part of Oxford University until 1996, when Lord Harris re-endowed it and in return his name was added to that of the college. (from the college's website www.hmc.ox.ac.uk). It only accepts mature (over-21) students. The buildings are listed grade 2 (list entry number 1046676).
