Moffat Mountain Rescue was founded on the 26th January 1969, and was originally named Moffat Hill Rescue Service. The Team's name was changed to Moffat Mountain Rescue Team on the 19th April 1995 when it became affiliated to the Mountain Rescue Council of Scotland. The service provides rescue cover across the eastern area of Dumfries and Galloway, an area of approx 400 kilometres square. The new purpose built base in Moffat, photographed here, was officially opened on the 7th July 2007.
