Wheeler Street school was established by the Hull School Board (1870-1902) in 1902 for mixed seniors, mixed juniors and infants. Refined Neo-Georgian style with some original touches, designed by Botterill & Bilson. At far left, note the 'Senior Girls Entrance'. The senior department was renamed Newington High School in 1945. Now Wheeler Primary School. There were originally two buildings; only one survives. The rear of the school, viewed from Ringrose Street.
