Situated in the middle of the village green in the sleepy Berwickshire village, the 18th. century cross indicates a former importance of Swinton as a market town. A football pitch is laid out on the green and the cross, standing on the centre spot, is endearingly referred to as the '12th. man' The old Free Kirk, with its clock tower can be seen in the background.
