The grander of a pair flanking the road and distinctively clad in light- and dark-brown glazed bricks (Image]). Its roofscape is enlivened by an impressive array of crowstepped gables, finials and chimneystacks. By Flockton, Gibbs & Flockton, 1899-1900, for John Henry Bryars, an animal breeder and vet. Grade II listed. Originally encompassing flats, shops, surgery, dogs' home, and accommodation for sick horses, now just flats and shops but probably not housing any veterinary surgeons.
