I love this gate and an explanation of why five monks are rowing a porcupine in a boat is given here https://www.newsshopper.co.uk/youngreporter/11586025.the-history-of-the-gravesham-coat-of-arms/ Although clearly once a village church on the outskirts of Gravesend, St Peter & St Paul, Milton next Gravesend with Denton (to give it its full title according to the notice board) has been thoroughly absorbed in the eastward march of the town. The west tower is Perpendicular while the rest of the church is described by Pevsner as "a fragment". The chancel has been demolished. This is the south entrance to the churchyard seen from the very busy East Milton Road (A226).
