Former waterworks site

This area at the bottom of Northumberland Road was the site of Coventry Corporation's Spon End waterworks. Two buildings, a circular water tank and rectangular filter bed appear on the Coventry Board of Health map of 1851. At this time, Spon End and Chapelfields were at the western edge of the city. Beyond the leftmost of the two Scots pines can be seen the rear of the former Malt Shovel public house in Spon End. The two pines are visible in the reverse view from Spon End: Image (2010).
