Very opulent Edwardian Baroque, with a cliff-like face of granite and stone, the latter decked out with Corinthian columns and quite heavy details. By Walter Brierley, 1904. Grade II listed. This sort of grandeur was almost invariably for a bank, in this case the York City and County Bank. Now a Wetherspoon's pub.
