Viewed from Rockingham Street. Bulky brick tower and long lower range ("dull" - Pevsner), by J.W. Beaumont & Sons, 1961-62, for the University of Sheffield, now housing the Departments of Materials Science and Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. Hadfield (1858-1940) was a metallurgist and Sheffield foundry owner. The land in front had been cleared in preparation for development.
