A road planer takes off the surface, necessitating traffic lights, road closure, diversions etc., which one knows nothing about until one gets there! Edinburgh's road works season [twelve months long] begins - done the trams, let's move on! But I suppose the end result will mean that at last the roads might be pot-hole free?
