Church Road showing the Coffee House which is probably Wavertree's oldest pub, dating from the 18th Century. The sumptuous ground floor interior was the work architect Walter Thomas, renowned designer of Liverpool pubs such as the Philharmonic in Hope Street and the Vines in Lime Street. To the rear of the pub stood the Crown Brewery reached by an arch to the left of the front door. The Picton Clock can be seen in the background.
