This was a notorious pinch point on the old Derby to Stoke main road before the opening of the current A50. At some stage the ground floor of this house has been cut back to create space for the footway alongside a widened carriageway. Now that the road has been widened, cushions have been installed to restrict traffic speeds; levels of traffic are actually quite low today by comparison.
