Seen from the patio of Ye Olde Swan pub, this view is of Thames Ditton Island. The island is only open to residents and has a locked gate on the suspension bridge on this side of the river to ensure that. After the wettest winter on record and extensive flooding by the Thames the river was exceptionally high and fast-flowing. It seemed that many of the properties on the island were flooded and on the mainland sandbags were to be seen everywhere.
