Jolliffe was educated at Christ's College, Cambridge and ordained in 1863. His first curacy was at St Mary Somers Town https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Mary's_Church,_Somers_Town and his second at St Mark Regents Park http://www.stmarksregentspark.org.uk/ He was Master of Gresham's School https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_masters_of_Gresham's_School from 1867 to 1900; and Curate at Arreton https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arreton from 1900 to 1905.
