On the roadside was what looked like a mound of rock-salt. Couldn't resist poking it with a stick - well, who could? It wobbled and shimmered like a massive jelly, or perhaps some intelligent force from a science-fiction film. What was it? I have no idea, but it looked pretty nasty.
