Tesco's first store in Wisbech was in The Market Place before this out-of-town super-store was built on Cromwell Road in the 1990s. Now even this store is considered too small by the retail giant who have built a larger one a few hundred metres away on the site of the former stock car and greyhound stadium. This was the last afternoon of trading before this store closed its doors for the final time. Both the store and adjoining fuel station are to be demolished and a new retail park built on this site.
