A very grand door and doorway, with the Marquess of Bute coat of arms above, including the Bute family motto 'Avito Viret Honore' which translates as 'he flourishes in an honourable ancestry'. The door is located at the top of the Bute Hall staircase within the main University of Glasgow building on Gilmorehill, beside the Hunterian Museum http://www.gla.ac.uk/hunterian/ , which is the oldest public museum in Scotland. The building is Category A Listed http://data.historic-scotland.gov.uk/pls/htmldb/f?p=2200:15:0::::BUILDING:32913 .
