Beeston Lane is now an internal road in the University of Nottingham campus, but was until the creation of Woodside Road the main road between Nottingham and Beeston. The milestone has no inscription and appears to have originally have had a cast iron plate on the front face. Old OS maps show it with distances of 3 miles to Nottingham and 6 1/2 to Sawley. The bench mark has also suffered some wear and tear. See http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3845607 for location.
