The British Sugar Factory at Bury St Edmunds was built in 1925. The five huge concrete sugar silos, have a total bulk storage capacity of 70,000 tonnes and are something of a local landmark. The silos hold crystallised sugar manufactured from sugar beet grown in the area (http://www.britishsugar.co.uk/Files/FactoryPDFs/about-bury-factory-0112.aspx British Sugar: About the Bury St Edmunds Factory; pdf file).
