As part of the Nottingham re-signalling project in 2013, the west curve of the Lenton triangle was reduced from double to single track. A busy route when coal was still being transported from the Nottinghamshire coalfield, there is now no regular traffic. As part of the simplification of the junction, a new crossover http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3837159 has been installed north of Abbey Bridge (from which this photo was taken) to allow southbound movements to access the curve.
