The course of the old road seems aligned with the hedgeline from the top left corner. The line of the road shows it to be a disused section of the Bluestone Heath Road, which runs along the Lincolnshire Wolds, and leaves Ulceby Cross (to the north) as the A1028. The new A1028 (still labelled as Bluestone Heath Road) runs parallel and to the W. The road across the bottom right corner is the B1196 to Welton le Marsh.
