Opened in 1974 on the site of the old Victorian building which had partially been destroyed by fire, see http://regencysociety-jamesgray.com/volume13/source/jg_13_017.html for an image of this building. The fire occurred in 1966 and destroyed the western end but left enough the remaining building to function as law courts up to 1971. There was a debate about preserving that section but Hove council decided it wanted a new building the result which was this nasty looking concrete monstrosity.
