The gates are at the southern entrance to Barry Athletic Cricket Club. Ernie Carless was born in Cadoxton in 1912. He played cricket for Glamorgan, and was an inside forward in the Football League for Cardiff City and later Plymouth Argyle. He died in Barry in 1987.
