Viewed from the beach with the rather nasty Soviet brutalist style Holiday Inn behind. Originally built in 1953 as the Western Bathing Pavilion, a changing area for bathers, but never took off and was converted into a cafe in 1957. This eventually fell into disrepair and was occupied by squatters in the early 1990s prior to the current owners taking over in 1996 who later added the rotunda on the first place enabling access from the promenade beyond. The reflection of the West Pier can be seen in the glass of the lower floor and gives some idea of the views for those using the establishment. In fact a friend of mine dined here on the night the pier burnt down and got a grandstand view.
