Catching the November sunlight, the ecclesiastical Gothic architecture of the west front of the Augustinian priory contrasts with the style of the rest of the house. Since there is now nothing behind it, I am led to wonder why the west front was retained when the Abbey was converted for residential use; a talking point for guests, perhaps?
