Two wagons belong to M. Way & Son of South Molton, North Devon. One is delivering pulverised clay to the quayside, probably for immediate loading by crane to a waiting ship. The other is returning via the A381 to one of the claypits in the Bovey basin northwest of Newton Abbot and Kingsteignton. When there is a ship to be loaded, waiting to sail on the high tide, the clay wagons come thick and fast from the quarries; many carriers are used.
