Trees, Anchor Lane near Abbess Roding

Anchor Lane is the first part of a C road that runs west from Abbess Roding to Matching Green. Although Abbess Roding, the nearest village, is 1.5 km away, a Congregational church was built in 1729 at the nearby junction with the road to White Roding to the rear of the camera, though no trace of it remains today. Anchor House, which is next to the site of the church, was at one time converted to a public house for the refreshment of the congregation.
