The mill was built in 1885 when the woollen industry was a major employer in the town. The mill closed in 1998 and plans were lodged with Scottish Borders Council in 2011 to convert the property into student accommodation. I am unsure what the current situation is regarding these proposals. This was viewed from Lee Brae.
