Located in the south of Fairwater Park, Cardiff Ski and Snowboard Centre was built in 1969 by Cardiff City Council. The original slope was 90 metres long. It was one of the first dry slopes in the UK. In 1984 the Centre was taken over by Snowsport Cymru Wales, the governing body of snow sports in Wales. The slope is currently 100 metres long. The mechanism in the foreground powers a continuously operating ski lift.
