A Stagecoach bus, headed for Annan, negotiates road works at the southern end of the High Street. The temporary traffic lights were causing some congestion, and frustration for local retailers, but there was no sign of any work actually being done even at midday on a Wednesday. At one time this street was part of the A74 Carlisle - Glasgow road, long-since by-passed.
