The public footpath here is part of two named trails, The River Wear Trail and The Great North Forest Trail. Unusually the stretch of path has street lighting; there's a lamp standard detectable in the image some distance ahead seen as a black vertical line to the left of the prominent, central tree trunk left of the path.
