The Elm Tree Tavern, Dogsthorpe

The Elm Tree Tavern on Garton End Road in Dogsthorpe has undergone several name changes during its history. It was originally known as The Comet Inn. The present building dates from 1924 although it replaced an earlier public house also known as The Comet at the same site. The pub was renamed The Elm Tree in the 1990s and then reverted to its original name of The Comet between 2004 and 2008. Since then, it has once again traded as The Elm Tree (very confusing!) The new owner had submitted a planning application to build seven three-bedroom houses on the site.
