The north front has an attached Corinthian portico as its main feature, not the detached portico intended by architect Thomas Baldwin who had begun work in 1790 but was sacked in 1793 and replaced by John Palmer. The portico doesn't quite impose itself as such a feature should. The inscription in the frieze reads, in Greek, "Water is best". Grade I listed.
