Opened in 1842 on what became the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway's "Oldham Loop" line from Manchester to Rochdale, this station closed to passengers in 2009. Compare with Image View east towards Oldham Central and Rochdale. When the line was converted to Metrolink operation, this station was not reopened, although there is one at Freehold, a few hundred metres behind the camera position. The new tracks to the left will take Metrolink into Oldham town centre.
